About Me

Denise Champney MS CCC/SLP

Language Therapy + Social Coaching

I am a licensed speech-language pathologist and am certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), as well as the Rhode Island Department of Education. I have over 25 years experience working in the public school setting.  Early in my career, I began working with middle school and high school age students which I found really rewarding and fun.  I began attending Social Thinking® conferences starting in 2007 and recently completed the highest level of training, a 3 day intensive session at the Social Thinking Boston clinic. My experience as an SLP provides me with the unique perspective of understanding how language weaknesses can impact an individual's ability to interpret and respond to others in a variety of settings. I am familiar with how these weaknesses can impact a child's ability to access the curriculum.  I am also a Screens In Schools Work Group Member at Fairplay working to help develop a more tech intentional environment for children at schools.
